Book 2 Post 1 : Resilient: How to Grow an Unshakeable Core
As someone that is very interested in mental toughness and resilience I was naturally drawn to this book by Dr. Rick Hanson. This book is a book that gives a step by step to build positive neuroplasticity, something that I have learned about before through the Andrew Huberman podcast. Andrew Huberman, a neuroscience professor at Stanford University also dives deep into this conversation of postiive neuroplasticity as a form of creating a strong foundation for resilience.
The book expresses 12 key inner resources to build an unshakeable core including: Self-worth, Confidence, Determination, Calm, Connection, Contentment, Courage, Compassion, Love, Integrity, Gratitude, and Aspiration. All of these inner resources contribute to creating a very strong sense of self and ability to endure difficult experiences. I find it very interesting to see this topic found in multiple cultures both in the present and past. Another example of this form of mentality is the one of the Stoics, back in roman times. They prided themselves on the pursuit of wisdom, courage, justice, temperance, mindfulness, gratitude, resilience, and humility.
